What this means for us:

1% of annual sales – not profits – goes directly to environmental causes.

Chocolate with an impact

Even small gestures can make a big difference. For birthday and thank you gifts, we choose Tony’s Chocolonely – a brand on a mission to make chocolate 100% slave-free.

The chocolate industry has a bitter truth: millions of cocoa farmers live in poverty, leading to child labour and exploitation.

Tony’s is working to change that by:

Driving industry change through Tony’s Open Chain which invites other brands to join their mission.
Fighting child labour by using a Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS).
Paying a higher price so that farmers receive a living income premium on top of Fairtrade.
Using 100% traceable cocoa beans so they know exactly where their cocoa comes from.
Working with cooperatives for at least 5 years for stability.

In the office

For us sustainability starts with everyday choices – at home and in the business. As the office is our home many of the choices we make personally flow into the workday.

At home and work we:

Choose Teapigs tea bags, plant-based & Rainforest Alliance Certified.
Stock eco-conscious, refillable soaps.
Recycle all waste wherever possible.
Use 100% renewable electricity.

As a business we also:

Regularly delete unnecessary files and emails to reduce storage-related emissions.
Use digital processes only (unless paper forms are mandated).
Print with EcoTank ink to cut cartridge waste.
Source stationery from sustainable providers.

These steps may seem small, but together they make a big difference and reflect our commitment to living our values every day.

have reduced the emissions associated with their portfolios by up to 2,115 metric tonnes of carbon per annum.

That’s the same as:

384 homes’ electricity usage for one year.
51,472,778 cups of tea.

We've prevented...

27 tCO₂e from being emitted through 10 verified carbon avoidance projects.

While the biggest impact we can make is to reduce our own emissions, carbon avoidance projects all provide complementary climate solutions to prevent greenhouse gas emissions, restore nature, and support local communities.

We've restored...

71m² of UK habitat.

Biodiversity is under threat due to a lack of suitable habitat, but time and again studies have shown that, when we provide this desperately needed habitat, species can return once more to the places where they used to live.

We've funded...

the planting of 479 trees across 17 projects. Including 2 here in the UK.

Healthy trees sequester CO2, making them climate champions from the moment they’re planted. They also help to restore healthy ecosystems, sequestering and storing even more carbon in soils and plant biomass, as well as boosting biodiversity.

I asked if it was possible to have a home visit as my husband is disabled. There was no problem and Lucy visited us within 2weeks. Lucy gave us a forecast that helped us to understand whether or not our retirement income was sufficient for our needs. She helped with consolidating separate pension 'pots' into one that can be monitored/managed online and in a fund that better suits our needs. Lucy gave us useful tools that supported with analysing our spending and our priorities for the immediate and longer term future. She arranged several meetings to listen to our needs, including attitude to risk, so that she understood them fully before providing us with advice which she was careful to ensure we understood.
