Living our values

Our journey with Ecologi

Climate action can’t wait. As members of Ecologi, we take practical steps to reduce our carbon footprint and create positive change.

Through Ecologi we:

Plant trees regularly as a business, as part of a client’s service and instead of sending Christmas cards.
Fund certified carbon avoidance projects that cut emissions, restore nature, and support communities.
Help restore UK habitats to protect wildlife and maintain healthy soils, which are vital carbon stores.

Every action counts. You can see our contributions with the button below.

Our commitment: 1% for the Planet

Our business exists because of the resources the planet provides, and we believe it’s our responsibility to give back. That’s why we joined 1% for the Planet, a global movement of businesses funding environmental solutions.

What this means for us:

1% of annual sales – not profits – goes directly to environmental causes.
We support non-profits restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and fighting climate change.
We’re part of a worldwide network driving real, measurable impact for people and planet.

Only 3% of charitable giving currently supports the environment. We’re proud to help change that.

Chocolate with an impact

Even small gestures can make a big difference. For birthday and thank you gifts, we choose Tony’s Chocolonely – a brand on a mission to make chocolate 100% slave-free.

The chocolate industry has a bitter truth: millions of cocoa farmers live in poverty, leading to child labour and exploitation.

Tony’s is working to change that by:

Driving industry change through Tony’s Open Chain which invites other brands to join their mission.
Fighting child labour by using a Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS).
Paying a higher price so that farmers receive a living income premium on top of Fairtrade.
Using 100% traceable cocoa beans so they know exactly where their cocoa comes from.
Working with cooperatives for at least 5 years for stability.

We’re not just saying thanks we’re supporting fair trade and ethical practices in cocoa farming.

In the office

For us sustainability starts with everyday choices – at home and in the business. As the office is our home many of the choices we make personally flow into the workday.

At home and work we:

Choose Teapigs tea bags, plant-based & Rainforest Alliance Certified.
Stock eco-conscious, refillable soaps.
Recycle all waste wherever possible.
Use 100% renewable electricity.

As a business we also:

Regularly delete unnecessary files and emails to reduce storage-related emissions.
Use digital processes only (unless paper forms are mandated).
Print with EcoTank ink to cut cartridge waste.
Source stationery from sustainable providers.

These steps may seem small, but together they make a big difference and reflect our commitment to living our values every day.

Our clients...

have reduced the emissions associated with their portfolios by up to 2,394 metric tonnes of carbon per annum.

That’s the same as:

429 homes’ electricity usage for one year.
57,512,422 cups of tea.

We've prevented...

29.95 tCO₂e from being emitted through 10 verified carbon avoidance projects.

While the biggest impact we can make is to reduce our own emissions, carbon avoidance projects all provide complementary climate solutions to prevent greenhouse gas emissions, restore nature, and support local communities.

We've restored...

88m² of UK habitat.

Biodiversity is under threat due to a lack of suitable habitat, but time and again studies have shown that, when we provide this desperately needed habitat, species can return once more to the places where they used to live.

We've funded...

the planting of 507 trees across 17 projects. Including 6 here in the UK.

Healthy trees sequester CO2, making them climate champions from the moment they’re planted. They also help to restore healthy ecosystems, sequestering and storing even more carbon in soils and plant biomass, as well as boosting biodiversity.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We contacted Wholesome Financial Planning following mediocre service from our previous financial adviser. We had worked with Matt and Lucy previously and had no doubts about their professionalism, attention to detail, sound advice, excellent communication and speedy follow up on actions. As expected, Matt has been superb and given us total confidence that we made the right decision.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucy was recommended to us by a friend and was absolutely brilliant throughout. My parents needed guidance with a life insurance policy and she made a rather complex process much more straightforward. She updated us on her progress throughout and communicated clearly and efficiently what we needed to do. She was very reassuring, answering all of their queries and helping my parents understand the more complex elements to the policy. We highly recommend Lucy.
Thank you Lucy for all your excellent and thorough work!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I contacted Wholesome Financial Planning through recommendation of a friend. I asked if it was possible to have a home visit as my husband is disabled. There was no problem and Lucy visited us within 2weeks. Having a pension issue, she managed to explain to us simply and clearly how to solve this ourselves. As we are both over 80 years old, it was refreshing to have Lucy explain (what was for us a complicated issue)in simple terms how to solve it.
We like to thank Lucy and Wholesome Financial Planning for a five Star Service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We consulted Lucy after having recently retired. Lucy gave us a forecast that helped us to understand whether or not our retirement income was sufficient for our needs. She helped with consolidating separate pension 'pots' into one that can be monitored/managed online and in a fund that better suits our needs. Lucy gave us useful tools that supported with analysing our spending and our priorities for the immediate and longer term future. She arranged several meetings to listen to our needs, including attitude to risk, so that she understood them fully before providing us with advice which she was careful to ensure we understood. She also advised us about key points in the future when we should review if we did not take up the option of an annual review with her. Very satisfied customer!
